Who We Are

Introducing Teri Foster,

Owner/Director

Dear Families,
    We are truly blessed when we encounter moments in our lives that validate and enrich our values, character and dreams.  Such an event occurred to me as a result of a class I attended to further my professional growth.  This course introduced me to the philosophy and practices of Magda Gerber, an amazing woman who founded an institute which promotes the respectful caregiving and education of young children.  I knew I’d found a “home base” to describe the beliefs I’d intuitively developed as a parent and later as a teacher.
    The vision of Gerber’s non-profit organization, Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE),  is that "from the day they are born, all infants are cared for with respect and are seen as unique individuals with surprising capacity to participate in relationships."

    At our Loving and Learning Center, I have expanded the focus of RIE’s practices to include and apply to our children of all ages (0-5 years) and adults... parents, guardians, and staff!  Being both a lifelong learner and a persistent teacher, I can’t help but hope that you will join us in your own discovery of the joys and confidence Magda’s teaching inspires in the adults of children all over the world.  To this end, we will have available all of RIE’s publications and resources in our Parent Library, and will include useful articles in our Family Newsletter as well.
